The light has been shone on a public scheme for Hampshire residents to invest in solar panels to help cut emissions and bills.
For the second time the county council is running Solar Together Hampshire, which offers panels and battery storage at a competitive price to homeowners who come together to buy them.
It has partnered with iChoosr Ltd to help make the transition to clean energy.
Cllr Jan Warwick, HCC cabinet member for climate change and sustainability, said: “More than 800 homeowners have registered for the first wave of the scheme and together, these household has the potential to save approximately 4,000 tons of CO2.
“This not only supports homeowners to feel confident that they are paying the right price for a high-quality installation from pre-vetted installers but, importantly, it also helps to reduce energy bills through a shift to greener energy sources – which also lowers our overall carbon footprint.”
The HCC has called 2022 the Year of Climate Resilience, and the scheme aims to help achieve its overall target of becoming carbon neutral and reducing the two degree C temperature rise by 2050.
Residents can join Solar Together Hampshire by initial registration until 27th September, free and without obligation at hants.gov.uk/solartogether
Pre-vetted UK solar photo-voltaic (PV) suppliers will then participate in an auction, when they can offer a competitive price.
After the auction, registered households will receive a personalized recommendation specific to their submitted details.
