Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday sought an explanation from the CBI and the state government for not including politicians in the sexual abuse case filed by the accused in the solar scam.
The court asked the probe agency and the state to submit their responses within two weeks.
HC intervention is based on the request filed by the survivor. He alleged that only four defendants have been listed in the case so far and 14 people including politicians and officials have not been included in the case. He said the investigation avoided including high profile people who sexually exploited him.
The survivor raised the same allegation in his complaint to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Though six cases have been registered by the CBI, only one report has been submitted. The CBI took over the investigation into separate sexual abuse cases in August 2021.
Congress leaders Oommen Chandy, KC Venugopal, Hibi Eden, Adoor Prakash, MP, former minister AP Anil Kumar, and BJP leader AP Abdulla Kutty are the accused in six different cases registered in sexual abuse case.
Cases against the six leaders were registered in the last few years and were investigated earlier by the Crime Branch of the Kerala Police. The woman complained that she was sexually exploited in 2012.
He was an accused in the multi-crore solar panel scam that rocked the Chandy-led United Democratic Front government almost a decade ago.
